Organic Brunch & Tour at Three Sisters Farm in Homestead, FL with Miami Bloggers Media – MyWellness RD

I recently had the opportunity to enjoy brunch in a two story tiki hut at Three Sisters Farm in Homestead, FL with Miami Bloggers Media followed by an in depth tour of the property. The food was unique, tropical and delicious and the farm is beautifully serene.

Three Sisters Farm is an organic operation in every sense of the word. It’s a living space that hosts vibrant events, an example of permaculture in practice and the singular spot where from seed to plate, all in one place, the magic happens.

Owned and operated by Chef/Farmer Jonathan Gambino since 2012, Three Sisters Farm has been taking farm to table to the next level by growing meals from seed to plate with Sunday brunches and food truck fare.

Check out these wonderful, exotic jams!

Egg from onsite free range chickens, sauteed kale, purple sapote waffle, mulberry muffin, jabuticaba fruit, carambola (starfruit), banana pancake, veggie frittata

I was soo hungry when I arrived and this plate of nutritious goodies really hit the spot. The purple sapote waffle tasted like chocolate! The jabuticaba fruit has a sour skin and a sweet interior. We also enjoyed beverages such as gumbo limbo honey limeade, lemongrass tea, and coffee.

Turmeric

Turmeric can ease inflammation in the body, manage joint discomfort, keep our cells healthy (protect against cancer) and keep us in a good mood. We got to take some home with us! Check out this Turmeric Growing Guide from the Three Sisters Farm blog.

Time to take a tour on the farm with Rachael Middleton, the “original third sister”.

That’s Rachel on the left, teaching us about Jackfruit.

Here’s a photo of me with the Jackfruit.

Rachel has been farming on this land since 2002 when the Middleton family operated Three Sisters Farm.  She is responsible for germinating all our vegetables in the greenhouse, keeping a log of what’s planted when, and guiding us astrologically for the best time to plant what.  Rachael is a natural teacher giving the most educational farm tours and explaining in detail every corner of the farm.  She also loves to climb trees, pick fruit, mix shakes for Jones, save seeds, and cook farm to table meals.
