Semilla Eatery & Bar is a chef-driven, and almost entirely organic concept located in South Beach, Miami. Through the end of Feburary 2017, the restaurant has a partnership with non-profit organization Slow Food Miami, and has funded the new garden at South Pointe Elementary School. Chef Joulin from Semilla has created a chicken dish using the herbs grown in the childrens’ garden along with produce from a local farm, and is donating 20% of the proceeds back to Slow Food Miami!
The Bar
The bar is pretty large, it wraps around the open kitchen. Semilla has happy hour specials every day from 5-8 pm with discounted drinks and tapas.
ORGANIC CUCUMBER GARDEN COCKTAIL – VODKA, LIME JUICE, BASIL LEAF, GINGER ALE
I felt like I was in a garden with every sip of this refreshing cocktail! While alcohol should be consumed in moderation as part of a healthy lifestyle, when it is consumed, it’s best to not to have sugary syrups with it for less calories, less chemicals and possibly less of a chance for a hangover. This drink has minimal ingredients that are fresh and natural.
LOCAL BURRATA & TOMATOES with FRESH BASIL
Semilla uses Leo’s burrata, made locally in nearby Wynwood, Miami. It was definitely one of the best burratas I’ve tried! The tomatoes are from the garden at south pointe elementary school. I enjoyed using the olive oil and balsamic on this dish. Delicious!

We loved our experience at Semilla Miami, all of the appetizers were especially delicious. It’s so wonderful that Chef Joulin is partnering with the community to bring customers fresh ingredients for a good cause.
