Event Recap: Chefs Up Front 2017 at The Biltmore Hotel Miami – My Wellness RD

The Chefs Up Front events in Miami and Fort Lauderdale have a tremendous impact on FLIPANY’s efforts to fight childhood hunger and improve children ‘s health right here in our community. This year was the 7th annual “Chefs Up Front”, a fundraising dinner that takes place at The Biltmore in Coral Gables and the W Fort Lauderdale in Fort Lauderdale.

The epicurean event includes a decadent five-course dinners prepared by 10 of South Florida’s most acclaimed chefs. One hundred percent of proceeds benefit Share Our Strength’s Cooking Matters™ Program, which connects families with healthy food by teaching them how to prepare nutritious, tasty meals on a limited budget. This year, we attended the Biltmore event and it was fabulous!

Two of our favorite dishes from the innovative 5 course meal were the Cuttlefish & Corn and Saganaki & Lamb dishes.

The Cuttlefish & Corn dish features cast iron squid, corn 3 ways, nasturium and sugar snap peas. This dish was paired with Canoe Ridge Expedition Pinot Gris. The Saganaki & Lamb showcased a pastrami crusted rack with flaming cheese, homestead greens and confit tomato. This entree was paired with Browne Family Vineyards Heritage Cabernet Sauvignon.
